Pizza Crust

Ingredients: (Yields 2 thin or 1 thick crust)
  • 1 cup warm water (110 F)
  • 1 package yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 2 1/2 cups Hudson Cream Short Patent Flour + more as needed
Directions:
  • Whisk yeast and sugar into warm water and let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a medium size bowl, stir the salt, oil and yeast mixture together.
  • Slowly add flour and knead until dough is soft, elastic and no longer sticky.
  • Cover and let rest for 15 minutes.
  • For a thin crust, divide dough into 2 equal parts.  For a thick crust, use all of the dough for 1 crust.
  • Roll onto a 12 inch pizza pan and cover the bottom with fork marks to prevent bubbles.
  • Add sauce, toppings and cheese
  • Bake at 450 degrees F for 10-15 minutes or until crust is lightly browned.
Freezer option:
  • Roll out the crust(s) onto a pizza pan but do NOT add toppings.  Bake just the crust at 450 degrees F for 4-5 minutes, until crust is puffy but still pale in color.
  • Remove from oven and let cool completely.
  • Cover in plastic wrap and place in freezer.
